Assignment: to make a drawing application using two switches (shown below):
I was surprised at how hard it was to design for using only two switches. All of my ideas for the drawing program used potentiometers or other variable resistors. In the end, we had one switch (the rectangular one) adding squares of random colors to the screen, and the circular switch adding circles of random colors and varying sizes. When we went to Elizabeth Seton at the end of the day, we were lucky enough to meet a little girl who was able to try out our program. She was engaged in the process for about 10 seconds, but then wanted to know 'what the picture was going to be'. I would say, if we showed this program again, we would have an image be revealed in the colors, or at least maybe move the program away from one that is additive towards something that takes away colors and reveals an image underneath.
